This grant is offered by the Beef Producers Working Group to offer reimbursement funding for beef producers in Pennsylvania who choose to test their herds for Theileria orientalis and Anaplasma.

Theileria is known to be spread to cattle by the Asian Longhorned Tick as well as lice and some fly species.

Anaplasma symptoms are similar to Theileria, therefore a combined test is suggested.
Reimbursement grants of up to $250 will be awarded on a first come, first served basis until funds are depleted.
The combined Anaplasma marginale-Theileria orientalis test should be requested.

Cost is $50 per test and information on wher to submit the test can be found on the PA Diagnostic Lab System (PADLS) website at: https://padls.agriculture.pa.gov/PADLSSearch.aspx

Work with your veterinarian to ensure samples are collected correctly and proper tubes are used.
Funding is subject to availability and is on a cost-share, first come, first served, reimbursement basis.
A minimum of 10% of the herd must be tested to qualify. Test results from all animals tested must be submitted.
The Beef Producers Working Group reserves the right to follow-up with producers regarding the test results and to use results and descriptions of the project for future programming and promotion. All producer names and exact herd locations will remain confidential and will not be shared.
