HARRISBURG (Mar. 27) – The PA Center for Beef Excellence (CBE) Board of Directors appointed officers for 2013 during the reorganization meeting held at the Mount Nittany Inn in Centre Hall. Officers were elected for the 2013-2014 program year. They are: Glenn Binkley, vice-president; Jim Hogue, secretary; and Cheryl Fairbairn, treasurer. Darwin Nissley is the 2013-2014 board president. Committee team leaders were also announced: Gene Trowbridge for the Education & Outreach team, and Darwin Nissley for the Legislative Affairs team.
The boards newly elected directors are Jim Cowell, Chuck Smeal, Tim Webster and Bill Dunn. Bill Weist was re-elected to serve a second term. They join Dave McElhaney, past president; Galen Martin, Phil McMahon, Ron Manley, Gene Trowbridge, Darwin Nissley, Glenn Binkley, Cheryl Fairbairn, Jim Hogue, and John Painter as members of the fifteen-member board.
Outgoing directors are Drew Wilkens, Dan Kniffen, Erskine Cash and Bob Hay.
The Center for Beef Excellence was established in 2007 to promote the beef industry through education, production efficiency, government and community relations, and economic development. Representing 28,000 beef producers in Pennsylvania with 1.61 million head of cattle, the industry generates over $2 billion in economic impact yearly in the Commonwealth.
