Feed lotThe feedlot is where beef cattle are fed and prepared for harvest. Upon arrival, calves are sorted into uniform groups for similar feeding and management. Feedlot managers provide specially formulated diets to meet the animals' nutritional needs and allow them to grow quickly and efficiently. After at least 120 days on feed, animals near their ideal target weight are ultrasounded to determine when they are ready for harvest.
